SEUPB - 2000-2006 Programmes Archive Search Tips

The EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, known as the PEACE II Programme, was a unique European Union funded programme for all of Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland (counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Louth, Monaghan and Sligo).

Its main aim was to promote reconciliation and help to build a more peaceful and stable society.

The INTERREG IIIA Programme was a European Union Community Initiative designed to support cross-border co-operation, social cohesion and economic development between regions of the EU.

The Northern Ireland/Ireland INTERREG IIIA Programme covered the same eligible area as the PEACE II Programme (Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland). It aimed to address the economic and social disadvantage that can result from the existence of a border.

The programming period for both programmes was 2000 – 2006 with the majority of project activity ending in December 2008.
