European Parliament President meets PEACE Projects

During his visit to Ireland the President of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell MEP, visited Dundalk Institute of Technology and took part in a roundtable discussion on the European Union and Peace. During the meeting he was briefed on the successful impact that the Special EU Programmes Body had had to date, through the PEACE II programme, in investing €978m into 6,500 projects. The International Fund for Ireland also presented an outline of their activities
At Louth County Hall, the President met with a number of projects that were aimed at facilitating reconciliation, breaking down barriers to cooperation and addressing the legacy of the conflict in Northern Ireland and the border counties.
