SEUPB ANNOUNCES CALL FOR INTERREG IVA - 1.2: TOURISM AND 2.2 RENEWABLE ENERGY/ENERGY EFFICIENCY

27 February 2008

A call for applications has been announced under two themes of INTERREG IVA: 1.2 Tourism and 2.2 Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency.

PRIORITY 1.2: TOURISM

Applications are invited from operations which will develop the potential for tourism in the eligible region and improve the tourism product and attract domestic and overseas visitors.

The focused and specific sub-themes are:
• Sustainable exploitation and development of natural resources;,
• Operations supporting culture and heritage (including Christian heritage); and
• Marine and water-based tourism.

Successful operations must be in keeping with the priorities of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Fáilte Ireland and, where appropriate, Visit Scotland.

PRIORITY 2.2 RENEWABLE ENERGY/ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The INTERREG IVA Programme is also calling for strategic proposals which aim to develop solutions to sustainable energy challenges facing the eligible regions. Proposals should have the potential to lead to improved renewable energy infrastructure and promote reductions in carbon emissions. Proposals should be innovative but also have the potential to make a major impact beyond the lifetime of the programme, contributing to EU energy targets.
