New information point for cross-border mobility

12 March 2008

A central information point for people who wish to move across the border in either direction to live, work and study has been established by the North/South Ministerial Council (NSMC) and funded by the European Union’s Peace and Reconciliation Programme.

The website – www.crossbordermobility.info -was launched by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dermot Ahern T.D., First Minister Dr. Ian Paisley MP MLA, and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP MLA.

The website, which was developed by the Centre for Cross-Border Studies in Armagh in collaboration with the Department of Finance and Personnel’s Delivery and Innovation Division, contains easily accessible information on issues such as taxation, social security, job seeking, health, education, housing, banking and telecommunications.

The cross-border mobility website has a growing number of links to the websites of Government Departments, Statutory Agencies and other relevant organisations in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
