What is the SEUPB?

The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) is one of six cross-border bodies set up under the Belfast Agreement (also known as the Good Friday Agreement)  – the agreement between the Government of Ireland and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which was signed on Good Friday,  8 March 1999, and led to the establishment of six North South Bodies or Implementation Bodies.

Our role is to help facilitate the positive impact that European Regional Development Funding can have on the lives of people living across:

  • Northern Ireland
  • Border Region of Ireland
  • Western Scotland.

We are responsible to two sponsor departments:

We are also accountable to the European Commission and the North South Ministerial Council.
