The following provides an at a glance update on progress for the INTERREG VB and VC Programmes in terms of involvement from local partners.

Northern Periphery and Artic Programme (2014-2020)

Four calls for applications have taken place since programme commencement which has resulted in 35 projects, representing almost 68% of the total value of the programme. A total of 16 of the projects include either a Northern Ireland Lead Partner or Partner. A 5th call for applications will open on 1 October 2017 and close on 28 February 2018. The Terms of Reference for the call are currently being prepared by the Joint Secretariat.

Atlantic Area Programme (2014-2020)

The Atlantic Area Programme continues to enjoy a high level of interest with 425 expressions of interest submitted under the 1st call for applications with 102 approved to submit a full application. The Programme Monitoring Committee is due to meet in early May to make decisions on all 102 applications and to consider a 2nd call for applications.

North West Europe Programme (2014-2020)

The North West Europe Programme has held four calls for applications with decisions taken on the first three calls. As a result, a total of 23 projects have been approved at an approximate ERDF value of €80 million against an ERDF budget of €370 million. The approved applications included one led by Northern Ireland and one with a Northern Ireland partner. A further 18 step one applications have been approved to submit a full step two application.

Interreg Europe Programme (2014-2020)

The 3rd call for applications into the programme opened on 1 March 2017 and closes on 30 June 2017. The Programme focuses on improving the effectiveness of regional development approaches and instruments through policy learning transfer of knowledge and best practice and seeks to approve projects which demonstrate measurable positive change in any of the following priority areas; Strengthening Research, technological development and innovation; Enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs; Supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy in all sectors; and Environment and Resource.
