Prior to the funding call to the new PEACEPLUS Programme opening, the SEUPB held a pre-application support workshop under Theme 3: Empowering and Investing in Our Young People. This workshop provided preliminary guidance to help potential applicants build their project, programme knowledge, and capacity so that they are best placed to make quality applications, with a strong focus on outcomes that meet programme targets and the overarching aim of Peace and Prosperity.

An indicative budget allocation has been set at €10 million for this Investment Area.

Overview of Investment Area 3.1

The key objective of Investment Area 3.1 Shared Learning Together Education Programme (non-formal education): To provide direct, sustained contact between children from all backgrounds through collaboration between youth organisations, to promote good relations and enhance children’s skills to contribute to a cohesive society.

It will result in an increase in the number of children (those engaging with youth services); youth workers engaged in sustained partnerships with those from different community, socio-economic, cultural and political backgrounds, in a manner which will contribute to the attitudinal and behavioural change within early years, youth settings and the wider community required to build a more peaceful, prosperous and cohesive Programme area.

It is anticipated that the Youth element of the Programme will fund the following actions:

  • Shared Learning Together Programmes: Development and delivery of youth-to-youth Shared Learning Together programmes in the non-formal education sector, delivered by youth organisations, which facilitate youth-based organisation partnerships on a cross community and or cross border basis. These youth based, non-curricular approaches designed by young people and youth workers should incorporate cultural awareness activities and the opportunity for significant and sustained contact, including the development of cross border exchange programmes;
  • Youth work capacity building: Programmes which develop youth work capacity on a cross border basis that will include enhancing relationships between youth workers across the Programme area and enhancing the expertise of youth organisations over the long-term.

The SEUPB anticipates that a funding call for this Investment Area will open in Spring of 2023. In advance of this, the above
